I am back

I was so lost all these months that I didnt get any time even to sit down and think if whats going on in my life. Usually this second and third quarters are the busiest parts of the year, this time it was busiest with all the marriages and exams and shopping and guests and what not.. OMG what fun these weddings are.

I did not shop much at this sale season because all my purchase was complete before the sale started as there were so many weddings lined up.. Now that I am pretty free I just get freaked out by the thought that why weddings and exams go hand in hand. I mean exams could even shift a bit so that we dont get this bored as we are right now. Okay.. enough blaberring.

So what did you guys shop at this sale season.. Share it here.

Happy Birthday to Me and 100 Posts on the Blog

It seems like I am getting very professional at creating milestones on special occasions. I created 50th post on 4th February this year which was the anniversary of my parents and now I am writing the 100th post on the blog on my birthday.

I feel so proud and happy today. From 4th of January I officially started working on this space. The journey has been superb till now. First quarter of 2014 has seen me writing each and every new thought that popped up into my mind, making new friends and thus my journey of being a blogger was superfantastic.

Well since its Holi today, I am not making any plans of going out. We will have a small celebration at home with loads of fun coming up.

My Current CTM Routine

Off late I have been getting some pimples on my face. I dont know the reason behind it. I have following the same routine for about 2 months and thus I guess my face was shouting for some change.

Since I have oily sensitive skin I need to be extra careful with my facewash and moisturizer. You know facewash makes it dry and the other one breaks me out. I was kinda happy with my Patanjali almond oil but then I decided to try something new. I brought Clean And Clear oil free moisturizer.

Here is my current CTM routine

1. Facewash- Patanjali Neem-Tulsi facewash. This is the only Patanjali product that I am using right now. I must say it has taken care of my pimples very well. Must try this facewash if you have pimples. It is way better then Himalaya Neem facewash.

2. Toner- Usually I am a rosewater toner person but this time I became a little more daring and changed my toner as well. Currently I am using Naturepro toner. This does not dries out the face. I have seen the size of my pores getting reduced.

3. Moisturizer- clean and clear oil free moisturizer is perfectly suiting me right now. No complaints from this.

4. Sunscreen-I am using Lotus herbals sunblock. This has become my HG sunscreen right now.

5. Scrub- CTM routine must have a scrub. I am using Oriflame pure active scrub. Loving it.

I am following this routine for past 2 weeks. My pimples have gone I my skin is behaving great. You need to change your products to see a difference.

Bye.

Makeup storage ideas and tips

We girls love to buy and use loads and loads of makeup and skincare products but most of us fail to store them correctly. After a couple of days my wardrobe also shouts for an arrangement. I dont love to see my messy drawers and boxes but at the same time I am the last person to arrange them.

Today was the day for my wardrobe, I organised my makeup items in cute boxes and finally after so many days the whole wardrobe looked clean and well placed. I hope it stays like this forever.

Let me share some makeup storage ideas with you. I had these set of three red boxes with me of different sizes, thus I used them to store my lip products, hair accessories, and earrings in each of the three boxes respectively.
Have a look

I have stored my nailpaints in a huge round box, which is not only cute to look at but also stores all my nailpaints

I have kept my daily essentials in a heart shaped basket which came with sweets.

Okay heres summing up all the pics of my makeup. I hope you find it useful with regard to your confusion on how to store makeup. All I can say is just look around you and you will find some interesting ideas to store your makeup.

Products that got emptied in February

I know I should have posted it yesterday but still I am not that late. Actually this month I have not used much products. Just a shower gel, a roll-on and some other random products.
1. Flama Di Willa shower gel in mild dew
Its a decent product for the price it offers. But the beads in it are useless and the fragrance doesnt stay for long.

2. Sure Dry Shield Roll On
After Nivea Roll on I bagged my hands on this. This fared on me well except that white patches on my skin.

3. Patanjali rosewater
Again a rosewater.. I am getting addicted to it now.

4. Lakme kajal
This one is not as good as lotus kajal but still I managed to finish it up.

5. Lakme lash artist mascara
This mascara from lakme did not curl up my lashes as the maybelline hypercurl one. Still its good. But a little pricey.

6. Ponds BB cream
As I mentioned earlier, this has been a great cream for me. Can also be used as a primer for applying eyeshadows.

So this month was a mix of good and average products for me. Lets see what march brings in stock for me

Maintaining a blog diary

Okay I know that I am old fashioned, I know I can use my phone for this purpose but you see keeping a diary for the blog makes it special in its own way. Writing makes my flow of thoughts faster.

This diary would maintain my pending posts to be put up, reviews that needs to be done, list of emails to be maintained, names of other blogs, pictures to be clicked and everything about the blog.

I just wrote my name and the name of blog. Did not start scribbling yet. But having a physical status of an electronic space is all so special.

Oh by the way,I just brought some highlighters and new pens from flair. I love Flair for its awessome collection of pens.

Do you maintain a blog diary?

How to maintain a healthy relationship

We human are born to make relations in life. Even animals do make healthy relations with their lovers, so whats the difference between us and animals? Well, the main difference lies in our attitude and expressions. Animals cannot express themselves by words h they emote themselves. Since we are the human race, we need to be a little more advance and sophisticated with each other. Now here lies the foundation of a healthy relationship. You dont make friends just for the sake of making friends, and even if you do, trust me you are just fooling yourselves.

So lets come to the point that we need to build relationships, that too healthy relationships. You can have millions of friends but what if no one turns up to you when you need them the most. So making genuine friends today seems to be a big task now a days. As a blogger I can say that making genuine friends is not that tough as it seems. You just need a little bit of understanding.

Here are some tips that you must understand

1. You need to have trust and faith in yourself.. If you are true to yourself, you can be true to others.
If you are not true to yourself, you can never be true to others. If you are able to understand yourself, then only you will be able to understand others.

2. Try and understand the other person. It may so happen that you may not understand the mental state of other person and then you will end up with strong misinterpretations. Please try and avoid such situations as they are bound to destroy any relationships.

3. Here I would like to talk about expectations. We humans are build up of expectations and emotions. But what if those expectations dont turn up to be true. As they say expectations always hurt. If you help a person and you expect him to help you back, then iit may not always hold good and you tend to frame negative opinions about the person. Now this is where we go wrong. We humans just go on expecting too much. Its just not good for healthy relationships.

4. Try and remain positive about the person. You know in today's world we all are so engrossed with ditching and backbitching stories in our mind that we refuse to think beyond these. Please frame positive opinions in life. Try to remain positive.

5. Now it cannot happen that you do not have arguments with that person, it does not happen normally. The way out is how you deal with those arguments. You need to deal with people with your own maturity and understanding.

6. Please do not frame opinions about a person. And even if you do then please keep it to yourself. You dont have any right to explain others about the character of the person. Nobody is perfect here. Please stop doing these right now. These are not the signs of good humans.

7. If a person tells you his or her secret he/she normally expects you that you will keep it to yourself. If you break this trust then it would never be build again. If a person trusts you then you need to maintain that trust otherwise your own goodwill will get lost.

8. "Help me help you". I have followed this throuhout. If you are not being helped then also please dont refrain yourself from helping other, you never know who might help you when you need them the most.

9. If you are not comfortable in a situation with that person then feel free to express your opinion to that person. I am sure nobody would like to hear your opinion from others. You need to be frank.

10. Last but not the least, human resource is the greatest asset in life. The stronger connections you build the more your reputation grows. You never know even a single person can become a good opportunity for you. So please be honest with yourself and with others.

Thank you..

Love your parents

As you know, right now I am attending my EDP sessions at Company Secretary institute. Today we got to hear a great speaker and motivator Amar Agarwala who is the author of "Missing Varun".

That 3 hour speech has changed my way of thinking. He has changed my perception towards my life. Each and every word touched each of the heart sitting there. What he told about parents is what I am going to share with you guys. The lines that you are going to read now are dedicated to my parents and this is probably my first thing that I am going to dedicate to my parents.

Like other kids I too love my parents but we never express our love to them. Yes I accept that I take my parents for granted. The reason that I am writing this blog and I am able to express my feelings is because of them only. As a child I never understood them as such. Now when I empathise with them I think they have done a far better job then probably I could have ever thought of.. I have never been an easy child. Trust me never. Not a bit.

But today when I see some qualities of adjustments and understanding in myself I know that I have inherited it from my parents. Although I have been more in touch with my mother but Somewhere I have equal respect for my father. Its because of his earnings and hardwork, a family is in motion so well. I have never seen him putting any pressure on any of my siblings or me. He has given us so much freedom.

We are a family of 9 people, where I have my grandmother and her family of two sons. So you see I have two sets of parents including my uncle and aunt and my parents. Also we are four siblings living together.

Now when I understand their contribution in my life I feel I will never be able to do this much even for my own kids. The reason why I am studying in one of the most expensive and most famous college in kolkata is because of my parents. They are struggling so hard to give us a living and we dont do anything in return.

The reason that I have so much maturity in understanding things and people is because of my mother. In my life I have never seen her saying no if she was asked to cook. Although we never thanked her for the food she made but she never demanded anything in return. How do mothers get so much of tolerablity I never understand. When I look back I have never been obidient daughter but she has handled me so beautifully that I owe my life to her. And the way she is managing her family, I guess all the management institutions should learn from these

Housewives on how to manage. I being a managenent student can never manage so beautifully like her.

Coming to the fathers, all I can say is that you need courage to see your hard-earned money flowing like water to build up someone's career and yet not expecting anything in return. He has always respected and loved my mother which is the reason why we children see stabily in our home. He never questioned about where the money is flowing.

All I can say is our parents are not at all professionals but each and every person should learn from them on how to behave like professionals. If you cannot love your parents, how can you love someone else?
Showing love is never that tough, you dont need words to express, you can even do so my your actions. I know they may not agree with you at times but at the end of the day all they want is your happiness.

Thank you

50th post on the blog

This is my 50th post on this blog. My small baby is growing big day by day. I was dying to write this post since a very long time. With your love and support this blog is growing big. The love that you have shown so far is depicted by my pageviews. I am obliged to each one of you for so much love.

If you are reading this post then you have connected with me in my journey as a blogger. Your emails show it all. Love love and loads of love to you.

Do you know why I have chosen this day to write my 50th post? Today is a very special occasion, its basant panchami and this day is considered as very auspicious for new projects. Here in bengal we celebrate this day as Saraswati puja. Oh wait there is one more reason, today my parents are celebrating their 24th marriage anniversay. So today I write my 50th post right here.

My dreams with this blog are very high. You see dreaming is good but working hard to reach to your goal is equally important. Until a year ago i did not know anything about blogging, not a bit. Then I learnt some blogging ideas from google. And I am still learning. This baby that I have made is my first project in my life and its equally close to my heart. I feel so good when I share a part of my life on such a big platform. With this blog I want to pass on the message of peace, the message of being happy no matter what, the messaage of having trust and faith in yourself, and lastly the message of being beautiful. If you are beautiful, the world around you becomes beautiful. Cheers to each and everyone on this planet because everyone has a beauty of his own. May god bless us all

Last week my brother made two beautiful collages of me with an android app. I was waiting to share this with you but was not getting the right opportunity. Then I thought I will do it in my 50th post.

Here are the piccys..

My night skincare routine

Last night while doing my skincare stuffs I got this idea to do a night skincare routine on this blog.
It is very important to follow a night skincare routine because at night you give a chane to your skin to breathe. If you sleep with even a very little makeup at night, it is sure that you will wake up with a dull skin.
So I always make it a point to pamper myself with good natural things at night so that my skin gets its glow by the morning and I truly swear by it.
Many of my friend have been questioning me about how I get that glow on my face, well here comes the answer. Its my night skincare routine which makes all the difference.
So here goes the routine.
First, I wash my face with lukewarm water. Yes, even during winters I dont skip washing my face. And I brush my teeth (you know good habits)
Then I apply aloevera gel from Patanjali on my face followed by two drops of almond oil from the same brand. With this I am done with my face.
Next I apply foot cream from Patanjali after washing my feet with cold water. Yes I know its a crack heal cream but it works as a good foot cream. It smells bad of camphor but seeing the results, I think I can bear this cream. After applying this cream I wear cotton socks andd let my feet soak this cream during the night.
Then I apply a moisturiser on my hands and rub it. There was a Garnier moisturiser that did not work for my face so I started using it as a hand cream.
Finally I apply my lip balm. Which lip balm? Oh it depends upon my mood. Sometimes when my lips need a scrubbing I apply my cocoa-coffee lip balm. Or when I want strawberry, I apply Blue heaven strawberry lip balm. Or sometimes I just apply my baby lips.
This is all about my night skincare routine.
Share your night routine here...

My battle with my hair

Oh my hairs have never been easy with me. They are actually taking some kind of revenge from me (I don’t know why..) Till my school days, even my skin was not in terms with me, but gradually with constant care and facials, my skin has improved a lot. But I don’t know what to do with my hairs.

Actually the story goes like this. My mother does not have very good skin but she is very very fair, so the same traits are passed on to me as well. But still I have maintained my hairs to a lot of extent but still they are not in a state in which I want them to be. I have shoulder length hair with oily scalp and dry hair.

Someone told me that the real beauty of a woman is defined by the length of her hair and since then my battle with my hair has started. I have been suffering from dandruff, premature graying, hairloss, thinning of hair, split end , even baldness(aloepacia)and what not. I actually feel pity on myself now. After school I started taking care of both my hair and skin. I have tried all possible hot oil massages, luxurious oils, shampoos, conditioners but the texture of my hair did not improve. I tried all the home remedies to improve my hair condition but they refuse to improve. Then earlier in 2013 I was diagnosed with aloepacia and that has become the biggest nightmare of my life. It took so much strength to stand up with self confidence. Doctors told me that the biggest reason behind hairloss is stress and tension. I don’t know if they were right but during my CS  finals exam in December 2013, I lost more hairs then they were supposed to be. I lost confidence in each and every advertisement shown in the T.V be it shampoo or conditioner or hairoil etc. to me all these are utter bullshit which do not improve my hair condition.

The only change that I saw in the texture of my hair was by applying almond oil from Patanjali. It reduced my dandruff to a lot of extent and made my hair soft. So you can see that I love my almond oil like anything. It is no less than a miracle for me. Then I tried switching over to herbal alternatives but it was of no use. Patanjali kesh kanti shampoo made my hair super-dry. Hot oils just improved my hair for a single day, the next day my hair felt so oily. During summer months, my head used to be super oily and since it is of curly texture so you can well imagine how difficult it was for me to manage my hair. With so much frustration in my head I used to go to the parlors every time to get my hair trimmed and after trimming my hairs used to become super-short. Now I am about to cry.. “weep” ”weep”. Even I tried the most reputed salons but whoever turned up to my hair for trimming only said that my hair was in worst condition and something had to be done to them. I have lost count on how much I have heard for my hair. I seriously wanted to say these people that they are being paid for trimming and not for opening their mouth to say something that I knew, but still I kept quiet . And now I just trim my hair at home only. I get frustrated with those fat ugly parlor ladies.
Now I have lost hope to recover my hair. I am just trying to be happy with whatever I have. I have realized that God has been very kind to me by giving me an amazing life. I have learnt to stay happy with my hair for they belong to me and only me. Whoever loves me will not love me for the condition of my hair but for the heart that I possess. As they say beauty of skin fades but beauty of heart remains forever..

So next time when you say someone that you are not beautiful, just wait and think that it takes a lot of courage to stand with a confidence in front of you. If you cannot praise about a person just don’t demoralize him. It’s not about beauty, it about a person.

Thank you

Look what’s in my makeup bag

My hunt for a makeup pouch ended at this pretty pouch. The colour of the pouch was an instant love. It is spacious and stores a lot of things. During my recent visit to Metro Plaza I brought this for Rupees 150. It is a neon pink coloured pouch and is indeed spacious. I stores a lot of things.
Here is what my makeup pouch contains..
A BB cream
A Maybelline lip balm in berry blast
A VOV lipgloss in red
A Lotus kajal
A sample perfume
A hand sanitizer.

Oh I cannot live without my hand sanitizer. Although the Dettol one makes my hands a little dry but still I am so used to it. And here is my pic with such little makeup.

How to boost your self confidence

Having confidence in yourself is the biggest asset that a man can have today. In present times, we lose our confidence due to various pressures from friends, families and the society at large.

Knowledge is the biggest source of building self confidence. The biggest pleasure lies in doing what others say you cannot do. But In today’s times the biggest reason of loosing trust in yourself is the feeling that you are not perfect. As I take my example, I was diagnosed with aloepacia last year and I had a bald spot on my head along with other skin disease. I lost my entire confidence, I forgot to dress up, I forgot to look beautiful, I forgot to make efforts to look pretty. I was only concerned with hiding my bald spot. I literally used to shiver when I met somebody. I used to get frustrated with little things in life. I did not go to college due to fear of being insulted. The stress inside me was increasing my hairfall. There was an urgent need to make changes in my life.

But then I was explained that I was beautiful, a bald spot doesn’t change the person I am. I was told that my knowledge was the biggest asset that I had. I started to dress up, I did long facials and body massages. I started to hangout with friends and started enjoying little things in life. I started making efforts to be a happy person and made little changes in my hairstyle to hide my bald spot. Soon the stress levels reduced and I became a happy person, and voila, the hair also started growing. Today I see myself as a changed person. A more happy person. I can say that loosing faith in yourself does not help in anyway.

  • Start making changes in your life. If you are planning to make a huge change at one go, it would never help. Start making little efforts. I am again saying that you need to aim big but do not forget to enjoy the little things in life. It truly helps, trust me.
  • Make efforts to look presentable. When u feel that you are looking good, your level of self confidence will be at its peak. Oh wait, I am not saying to invest your entire money and buy branded clothes, just little makeup and good clothes would help.
  • Learn to calm yourself down. It needs practice. Anxiety does not help In anyway. In present times we don’t even know that we are facing stress. My doctors told me that thinking about past unhappy memories also leads to stress. Start practicing to calm yourself.
  • Start knowing yourself. The more you know about yourself the more you know about your limits and abilities. Realize your potential and start working on it now..
  • Never make big goals. Make smaller goals and try to achieve them. Making big plans for the day will lead to more frustration.
  • Stay away from negativity. Stay away from people who are always negative in life. what others think is not your concern.
  • Try to be positive. Try and find out solutions and do not sit idle with the problems. Sitting with the problem does not help rather try and find out the solutions. During exams, I even changed the wallpaper of my phone to a motivating thought. I gave me energy to work harder. It does help trust me.
  • Smile smile smile. It creates wonders. It creates positivity. It creates happiness. Start practicing to smile at little things in life..
  • Reward yourself. It may be in form of pampering yourself with a facial, a little makeup, or applying a bright nailcolour or even taking to a friend you love.. It calms your soul.
  •                 Learn from your mistakes. Start working on your flaws. Mistakes are not to be repeated they are meant to be learnt.

Lessons Of Life

When I look back at last year, I feel this year has given me a lot. A lot of incidents have shaped me the way what I am today. I feel a lot happier than I used to be. As I write this post I am sharing a part of myself and I am proud of getting such a platform to express myself so that others have an idea of their mistakes. It’s a post on the mistakes that I made and what I have learnt from these mistakes
This year, I met so many people who left their impressions in my life in some way or other. Each of these people holds a special place in my memories, whether good or bad. Friendship holds a special place in lives of every people but forming a character of a person in early stages of

friendship is real bad. When the person doesn’t turn out as you had thought, it leads to heartbreaks. We maintain relationships not only with special ones but we have to maintain relationships with every other person we meet in our lives, our words play a very important role in shaping our character.
LESSON NUMBER 1- It’s always important to have a check on your words.
We were a group of six friends, now the whole group is shattered just because of minor misunderstandings. I have learnt not to share everything with everyone, it always leads to misunderstandings.
LESSON NUMBER 2- it’s important to take things in a positive manner. Finding more good in a situation or thing will lead to more happiness than finding flaws
LESSON NUMBER 3- what you think about a person is not at all important information to others, better keep it to you.
I used to be a very impatient person who always used to get frustrated with little things. And now I am more of a calm and composed person. Yes it needs practice to see a change in yourself.
LESSON NUMBER 3-think before you react. Think before you speak. Think before you do. Think think think.
These things not only create healthy relationships, but they also create better persons. I have learnt to be patient in my life, now I just wait for the reaction of counter party before I react. It was not only one incident, but a series of miscommunications that has shaped me what I am today.

It is not necessary that the other person, to whom you are having a conversation with, has the same state of mind as you. Things can always be misunderstood in some way or other which leads to fights and thus boycott. Today I feel if I would not have said a few things, I would not have regretted this much. But then again, everything happens for a reason. And now I realize that a mistake that has been committed in past would never be repeated again.
Trust again turns out to be dangerous in friendships. So it is always better to behave and act smartly. You don’t need to show what you are thinking.

LESSON NUMBER 4- smile because it costs nothing. It’s the strongest tool to spread happiness and positivity. Trust me it can change your day.
LESSON NUMBER 5-  always aim big but never ignore the little joys in life. These little incidents would shape up to happier memories in future.
LESSON NUMNER 6- have faith and confidence in yourself. It has the power to change fortunes.
LESSON NUMBER 7-Next comes the biggest lesson that I have learnt so far. LET IT GO, there are more important things in life than to hold back the misfortunes. Always take it easy and casual. These little things do not deserve seriousness from you. TRY AND TAKE IT EASY. SHOW YOUR SERIOUSNESS WHERE IT IS ACTUALLY REQUIRED.

Thank you

A Note To My Readers

Thank you for visiting Pinks and Purples

Here is a note to my readers

The Telegraph T2 and my Stationery Love

Now don’t get me wrong here I am not that person who sits down with heaps of newspapers around me. Don’t we all just love when the paperwallah delivers The Telegraph at our homes and we have a short fight with our siblings that who is going to grab the T2. I love reading T2 newspaper. It has a very interesting youthful vibe. The write-ups , the pictures and the colours are awesome. I actually don’t read the actual newspaper, I just grab my T2 and run away.. he he.
The most interesting article that I read today was Dating rules on Facebook- so that you don’t go from ‘committed’ to ‘its complicated’
It says “facebook should have a limit on how many times you can change you relationship status. After 3 it should default to unstable.”  ROFL…

Do you enjoy reading T2. Share your views

I just love collecting small copies for my college and tuition notes. Small sized colorful notebooks look supercute and easy to carry in my handbags, they create space for other things as well…this flowery pouch was gifted to me by a friend, and here are my colourful pens…
